Video of a traffic stop that ended in a shootout, the officer was shot
Newly released video shows the moments a cop was shot during a violent traffic stop. The incident was in New York.
The video was released in May 2025 but the encounter happened on June 16, 2023. New York State Trooper Richard Albert pulled over a car that he saw going over 100 mph on I-88.
Albert approached the vehicle, the suspect Nelson Troche, 32, stuck a handgun out of the window and began firing. Nelson’s girlfriend was in the vehicle too. Watch video of a cop being shot during a domestic violence incident.
Albert was shot in the shoulder. The officer shot back and damaged the suspect’s car. A log truck then rear ended a Ford F-150 truck. Nelson then attempted to get away, but the log truck driver intentionally rammed the suspect vehicle to stop it.
The suspect car jacked the Ford truck and drove down the interstate. But the Ford truck broke down due to the log truck collision. A shootout continued between Albert and Nelson. Nelson and his girlfriend then fled on foot into the woods. Videos caught the moment a cop was shot, and the suspect stole the police car.
Nelson killed himself in the woods by suicide. The girlfriend survived, it is not clear if she was arrested. See the many incidents when cops were shot at.
