VIDEO: BUS DRIVER MURDERED ON THE JOB, MAN GETS 17 YEARS IN PRISON

On May 2, 2024 Darian Dru Thavychith, 22, pled guilty to murdering Ethan Rivera, 41, in Charlotte, NC. Ethan was a Charlotte Area Transit System bus driver. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram.

Ethan was murdered on February 11, 2022 on West Trade Street while he was on duty. At 9:30 p.m. Ethan was on a city bus in downtown Charlotte driving 4 to 5 passengers to their destinations when a driver in a SUV had a road rage dispute with Ethan. The suspect in the SUV pulled up beside the large bus and fired several shots, the suspect was identified as Darian.

Ethan was shot in the head, the bus then drove off the roadway. The suspect SUV sped off. 911 was called and paramedics rushed Ethan to Atrium Main hospital. Ethan later died from his injuries.

Darian was arrested in Shawnee, Kansas, after a two week manhunt.

In 2024 Darian pled guilty to second degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. The judge gave Darian 17 years in prison.
