A member of the Pineville Police Department shot and killed Colton.
Colton was at Tavern 51 having drinks with his friends. Police received a 911 call about a customer inside the Tavern 51 restaurant that pulled out a handgun and made threats towards others.
The victim was shot and killed at Tavern 51 on Saturday evening
The 911 caller can be heard telling the 911 operator,
“This mother fucker is going to shoot up the place. Some white guy that is drunk out of his mind.”
Colton was in the parking lot when the officer arrived and gave several verbal commands to Colton. At the same moment, the 911 caller says, “Yea mother fucker, you thought you was getting away.”

Colton is accused of advancing towards the officer and making a sudden gesture which led the officer to believe the suspect was an imminent threat.
The cop then shot Colton dead. Two shots can be heard on the 911 call. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the incident.
