On January 13, 2025 Willie Wimbley, 47, murdered his girlfriend Chartara Courtney, 43, in front of police at a residence on Hammermill Drive near Roberta Road in Harrisburg, NC. Chartara was a mother with teen children. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Willie and Chartara were in a dating relationship. The two were having a domestic argument when Chartara called police at 7 p.m. claiming Willie was making threats to kill her.
Police responded to the scene. When Willie saw police he shot Chartata in the yard of the home in front of cops, she died instantly. See more shooting domestic violence stories here.
Willie then hid behind a vehicle and fired multiple shots at responding deputies. Cops then shot and killed Willie on scene.
The dispute was in the Providence Manor neighborhood subdivision. The neighborhood is in a good area, and crime usually does not happen there.
