MAJOR WRECK CLOSES I-77 NEAR I-485, SMOKE SEEN FOR MILES

Traffic was at a stand still as a huge vehicle collision transpired on July 15, 2024 on Interstate 77 near the Interstate 485 interchange. 

 The wreck occurred around 7 p.m. An 18-wheeler commercial truck collided with several other vehicles on I-77. 

The 18-wheeler caught fire and was burnt to a crisp, along with other vehicles. All drivers were pulled from the burning vehicles. No fatalities occurred, but victims did sustain life threatening injuries. 

The wreck closed Interstate 77 North onto Interstate 485. Traffic was backed up for miles as plumes of black smoke was seen rising in the sky.
