Multiple kids suffered smoke inhalation after a school bus in Charlotte caught fire, the driver didnt even know the bus was ablaze
A school bus caught fire on September 17, 2026 in Charlotte, NC on Tuckaseegee Rd. The school bus had kids on it from East Voyager Academy. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
At 7:40 a.m. the bus was driving to the school with kids on it when the engine overheated and the bus began smoking. The bus driver kept driving and did not know the bus was on fire. The bus first caught fire under the bus.
A motorists saw the bus on fire and had to beep and flag the bus down to let the bus driver know that the bus was on fire. The bus driver stopped the bus and the kids were evacuated.
Some of the kids sustained mild burns and smoke inhalation. Firefighters were called and put the fire out. Students received medical treatment as a precaution. Lawsuits against the school system and the East Voyager Academy are expected by parents of the children.
