On July 23, 2026 Obadiah Walker, 18, Vincent Henry, 17 and Jakiya Ratliff, 17, were all charged with murdering Yamonnie Houston, 15, on Independence Blvd. Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Yamonnie and a second female victim were shot on July 10, 2026. Yamonnie and another victim were in a Nissan vehicle. The suspects are accused of being in a Chevy Cruse SUV.
The Chevy blocked off the Nissan in traffic and fired multiple shots. Yamonnie was shot in the head, others were shot too. The Chevy sped off into the distance.
The victims drove to a nearby hospital for treatment. On July 14, 2026 Yamonnie died at the hospital while in surgery. The second girl survived.
The suspects were later arrested on murder charges. Jakiya’s clothes got stretched during a scuffle during her arrest. Yamonnie had a Tik Tok social media channel where she made videos with her tongue out sometimes.
