Motaz was flying a drone during Laura’s party and all hell broke loose, a shotgun was fired through the door at the Vue apartments
A shooting at the Vue Luxury Apartments in uptown Charlotte, NC led to Moataz Elbasyouny, 30, getting arrested. Moataz is accused of shooting a shotgun at Laura Polanco. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
The shooting was on May 22, 2025 at 10:30 p.m. in the Vue apartments located at 215 North Pine St. Moataz was living on floor 11 at the Vue apartments, he was flying his drone off his balcony around the building.
A male resident on floor 28 yelled down expletives for Moataz to turn off the drone. Moataz got angry and went up to floor 28. Laura Polanco was having a party and had a few friends over on floor 28. Someone from her party was the one that yelled at Moataz about the drone.
Moataz came to Laura’s apartment and a fight began between Moataz and the male party attenders. Moataz’s shirt was even pulled off in the altercation.
Moataz went back down to his room and his accused of returning to Laura’s apartment with a shotgun. Moataz is accused of banging and kicking on Laura’s apartment door.
Prosecutors say Moataz then shot at Laura’s front door. Laura ducked for cover along with her party attendees. Cops were called. Moataz was attempting to leave the Vue apartments but was caught by cops in the parking garage. A shotgun was found in the vehicle of Moataz in plain sight.
Cops say a bag of cocaine was found on Moataz. The suspect was arrested charged with shooting into occupied dwelling, attempted breaking and entering, and cocaine possession.
Management at the Vue Apartments quickly evicted Moataz and banned him from the property. A restraining order was also levied against Moataz. The defendant is on surveillance footage with the shotgun in his possession inside the apartment complex.
