Darrell Buelin, 52, died during a multi-vehicle 18-wheeler truck crash on Interstate 485 in Charlotte, NC. The crash was on June 21, 2024. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. Darrell was driving an 18-wheeler gas tanker truck. A car smashed on brakes in front of Darrell and Darrell was forced to slam on brakes. The abrupt brake application caused Darrell to run off the road and into oncoming traffic. The gas tanker truck then crashed into another 18-wheeler truck head on.
That crash then caused multiple other crashes that resulted with vehicles crashing into the 18-wheeler trucks and other vehicles.

The drivers in the passenger vehicles were injured and taken to the hospital.
The fatal collision closed traffic on Interstate 485 all day. The crash is still being investigated.Darrell leaves behind a large family including his wife, his parents, his several adult children, brothers, and several grandchildren.
