25-year old Russell Fincham died at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center Jail Central location on 801 E. Fourth Street Charlotte, NC. Russell was an inmate at the jail and died on July 6, 2022.
At approximately 8:25 a.m., a medical emergency was called by a detention officer in the unit where Russell was housed. Medical personnel began administering CPR and paramedics were called.
Bugs were crawling on walls in the jail kitchen during a county health inspection.
At 8:34 a.m., medics arrived and continued CPR. Russell was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:56 a.m.
Russell was processed into custody at the jail on July 3, 2022. The State Bureau of Investigation will conduct a thorough investigation as the medical examiner determines a cause of death.
