Sheronda was a mother and a chef. All of her food deserved the chef’s kiss. Her dad is suing cops for a police chase that killed her
Sheronda La Shanetta Woody Wilson, 33, was killed in Charlotte, NC in a high speed police chase in which suspect Gregory Rhoads, 26, crashed into Sheronda on Pineville-Matthews Road. Now the family of Sheronda is suing the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and the officer involved for initiating the chase. Sheronda was a mom with a 11-year-old daughter.

Sheronda died on August 6, 2023 when the crash occurred. Gregory was going just 15 mph over the speed limit in an Infiniti vehicle. CMPD Officer Andrew Brown then attempted to pull Gregory over. The suspect refused to stop and sped away.

Officer Andrew continued to follow Gregory in close pursuit. Sheronda and a man named Kenneth Faison were in a car together, Kenneth was driving. Gregory running from police then came crashing into Sheronda at an intersection.
The crash pushed the victim’s car into a ditch embankment. Kenneth was injured from the crash, while Sheronda died instantly.
Gregory was injured and later arrested charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and distribute, maintaining a place to keep a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheronda was a chef from New Jersey who moved to Charlotte as a child. Her daughter was sad after news of her mom dying. Now the family of Sheronda is suing the police department for wrongful death after the chase caused Sheronda’s death.
A cop initiated a chase for a man going 15 mph over the limit, the family calls the chase and traffic stop unnecessary and negligent. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has a no chase policy, but it is very clear that officers do not follow it and they do what they want anyway.
Even when it comes to people’s constitutional rights, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department glosses over it and does not take it seriously, yet they swore an oath to the constitution to became a police officer.
