Edwin Garcia, Arthuro Garcia, Miguel Portillo, and Kevin Turcios García were all killed on January 10, 2023 on Interstate 85 in Charlotte, NC during a massive crash. The men were family members and construction workers.
The men were all in a truck with a trailer attached to the back on Interstate 85 in Charlotte on January 10th at 4:40 P.M. A dump truck had stopped in the middle of traffic due to running out of gas.
The fire consumed the whole truck within seconds. The victims were not able to get out of the truck and were burned alive, toxic smoke filled the truck also.
Kevin, Arthuro, Miguel, and Edwin all died on site. The dump truck drivers have not yet been charged with a crime.
The crash shut down Interstate 85 for hours. Traffic was backed up for miles. The deadly crash was near the University City Boulevard exit.
This is the 7th death in Charlotte within a week involving latino construction workers. Watch video from last week showing 3 construction workers that died in uptown after falling from a scaffold from 8 stories high on a tall building.
