On March 19, 2023 Michael Brown, 21, and Jareese Florybert, 16, were murdered in a violent shopping center shootout. The victims were killed on The Plaza near Eastway Drive in Charlotte, NC.
The double homicide was in the parking lot of the shopping center around 9:30 p.m. An altercation between several people erupted and several shots were fired. Michael and Jareese were shot.

The suspects fled. Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Michael and Jareese dead on site.
This is the 3rd homicide in Charlotte in one day. A man was stabbed to death in south Charlotte.
