30 bricks of methamphetamine and $445,000 cash were found in a east Charlotte drug bust, Homeland security was conducting undercover surveillance on illegal immigrants
Juan Mojarro Sanchez, 37, and Martin Hernandez Nunez, 36, were arrested on May 28, 2026 after a drug bust at 5300 Hickory Grove Road Charlotte, NC. $445,000 cash was found and 30 bricks of methamphetamine were in the drug stash house. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Department of Homeland Security agents were conducting undercover surveillance on the drug stash house at 5300 Hickory Grove Road. Juan and Martin were residing at the location and were believed to be involved in drug trafficking due to other people being arrested in the past and telling cops about the drug operation.
Drug tunnels are being used these days to smuggle millions of dollars worth of drugs.
While agents were in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the residence Martin left the location in a vehicle. Charlotte police officers conducted a traffic stop on Martin. A police canine was deployed for an open air sniff of the vehicle.
The canine alerted to the presence of drugs. During the subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located approximately $45,000 in cash inside the car.
Martin stated he was picking up the money from an unknown individual and transporting it to another unknown individual. Upon execution of the house search warrant, agents located Juan near the rear of the residence and detained him.

During the search of the residence, federal agents located 30 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2 kilograms of fentanyl, and $400,000 cash. Both Juan and Martin were arrested charged with drug trafficking.
There have been so many large scale drug busts in Charlotte over the years.
Both suspects were illegal immigrants and ICE detainers were lodged on them.
