On July 8, 2024 a man was shot and killed in a vehicle on Rea Road Charlotte, NC. The victim is identified as 36-year-old Derrick Byas.
Derrick was shot dead in his vehicle on the side of the road near the woods. Around 7 a.m. a passing motorist saw Derrick dead in the car. Emergency crews were called.
Paramedics pronounced Derrick dead on the scene.
Areas of Rea Road and Piper Glen Drive near I-485 were closed due to the investigation. 6 murders occurred within 24 hours of Derrick’s death.
