SUSPECT PLEADS GUILTY TO MURDERING WOMAN DURING ATM ROBBERY

On August 22, 2024 J’wuan Horton, 24, plead guilty to murdering Karen Baker, 48, at an ATM on University City Blvd. Charlotte, NC.

Karen was shot and killed on July 13, 2022 during a robbery at an ATM. Karen pulled up in a car to the ATM to get cash at 6 in the morning on her way to work. J’wuan dressed in black with a mask on approached Karen.

Karen was robbed and murdered at the ATM while she was on her way to work.

J’wuan took Karen’s cash and then shot her. J’wuan ran from the scene. Karen died on site.

J’wuan was arrested 3 months later and charged with murder along with robbery.

At his 2024 court appearance, J’wuan pled guilty to second degree murder and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

J’wuan was sentenced to a minimum of 317 months and a maximum of 393 months in prison.

Before the ATM robbery J’wuan had just got out of prison, five months prior. He was originally in prison for another armed robbery and breaking and entering.
