24-year-old Nijel Hitchcock was murdered on August 22, 2024 on Church Street North in Concord, NC. Deamonte Howard, 26, is charged with Nijel’s murder.
At 8:45 a.m., Nijel was shot in a parking lot while he was in the back seat of a car. The suspect fled. Nijel was able to get in the front seat and drive away but he later crashed into a car and a utility pole, Nijel then died.
Deamonte was apprehended shortly thereafter by Concord police.
Deamonte was charged with voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Deamonte and Nijel knew each other.
