A family was going to Carowinds when they were killed in a massive wreck on I-485
6 people were killed in a crash on Interstate 485 in Charlotte, NC on July 26, 2025. Taylor Willis, 23, is the adult female that was killed along with her boyfriend Samuel Jake Holmes. Taylor’s cousin Kamron Wood, 8, was killed too. Taylor’s children Addyson, 3, and Brynlyn, 1, were also killed. Taylor’s 16-year-old sister Katelynn was in the van and survived. A 6th victim in a separate vehicle identified as 16-year-old Logan Sauer was also killed and is not pictured yet. See video of the crash here.

Taylor and her family were in a Chrysler Pacifica van on the way to Carowinds Amusement Park on July 26th. Around noon the family was traveling on I-485, a Honda vehicle driven by Logan was traveling beside them. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
At some point the Honda and the Chrysler van collided into each other. The impact of the initial crash sent both vehicles crashing into an 18-wheeler truck on the side of the highway.
The impact caused the 18-wheeler truck to overturn. Taylor, Jack, Kamron, Addyson, and Brynlyn were killed instantly. Also Logan the driver of the Honda died on impact.
The teen girl Katelynn inside the van was the only survivor. Katelynn is very sad and distraught over seeing her family die in front of her. The teen was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
The wreck shut down traffic for hours and blocked all lanes of I-485. It is not known who was at fault yet. Special traffic cranes had to be brought in to lift the 18-wheeler truck upright. More fatal collisions can be seen here.
