A police officer in Greenville, SC was shot multiple times on duty on January 11, 2026. A suspect pulled up and shot the cop in an ambush style attack. The suspect is David Lane, 42. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
The officer was with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office on duty. At night time, the cop was in his patrol SUV at the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center in the parking lot.
The suspect was in a vehicle and slowly pulled up to the cop. The suspect rolled down the window and immediately began firing off multiple shots of gunfire. Incendiary ammunition was used on the cop, which is meant to give maximum damage. Cops actually get shot pretty often, and most of the time rightly so, cops have a way of behaving badly and mistreating people, thinking they are above people or superior.
The cop was shot several times and nearly died. The suspect calmly drove off. The officer was able to radio in for help. The suspect was later shot and killed in a shootout with authorities, after a high speed chase.
The officer has since been treated and released from the hospital and went home limping with multiple abrasions, scars, and injuries.
