On February 6, 2025, a police officer was ran over by a vehicle during an armed robbery investigation. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
At about 5:11 p.m. officers spotted a white Kia Optima at an intersection. The vehicle was known to have been stolen during an armed robbery earlier that day.
The officers exited their vehicles and approached the Kia on foot and provided verbal commands for the occupants to exit.
The driver of the Kia drove away, striking other vehicles as it exited the bridge by going over the curb.
In doing so, the Kia nearly hit one officer and then collided with a second officer as the stolen vehicle fled the scene. Three officers fired at the vehicle. The suspect got away.
