A large sign collapsed on Interstate 77 right onto a car, trapping drivers in Charlotte, this is a pay day for someone accidents like this pays big money
Several drivers had an overhead sign fall on them while driving on Interstate 77 Charlotte, NC near the Arrowood exit 3 area on November 28, 2025. Follow our new Instagram page. It is not known how or why the sign fell, but situations like this involve huge multi million dollar lawsuit settlements for victims.

Around 11 p.m. the overhead interstate sign collapsed onto a car, trapping the driver beneath the wreckage in the blistering cold. The sign was heavy solid metal and 50 feet wide. The heavy duty sign caused catastrophic damage to the vehicle. Other vehicles crashed into the vehicle and the sign as they were traveling at highway speeds.
Many drivers smashed on their brakes and swerved. 911 was called by multiple motorists and emergency crews arrived within minutes.
The crews worked together to free the driver, completing a complex extrication using the jaws of life tool. Additional entities, including USAR responded to support operations and help bring the scene under control.
Two patients were transported to Atrium Health Hospital with serious injuries. NCDOT interstate maintenance crews removed the sign, and I-77 reopened at 5 a.m.
