Welp Garry Mcfadden butchered the English language in yet another public debate, messing up word tenses and speaking with low literacy. Garry Mcfadden could use an English tutor, ‘no cap’. Maybe social studies too because he didnt know the 3 branches of government either. Garry Mcfadden called his employees direct racial slurs multiple times on a recording, and he blames everyone else for the problems he starts. Imagine if Donald Trump used racial slurs. Yea you see the point now?!
A sheriff’s election debate occurred on February 24, 2026 in Charlotte, NC with 4 candidates vying for a chance to be the next sheriff of Mecklenburg County. Current Sheriff Garry Mcfadden used incorrect English multiple times during the debate, just as he has throughout all of the debates and a senate hearing. We marked all of Garry Mcfadden’s broken English and incorrect mishaps in red within this article. In one sentence, Garry said “I am the only person has the capability and knowing what it takes to open the juvenile detention center” The correct way to say that is “I am the only person here that has the capability and knows what it takes to open the juvenile detention center.” Ricky Robbins is a way better sheriff candidate and he has enough support to beat Garry Mcfadden in the election, especially from the Fraternal Order of Police.

Garry continued with bad English saying, “I’m the only person here on this panel know the exact number and know how to open it” The correct way to say that was “I’m the only person here on this panel that knows the exact number and knows how to open it”
Garry Mcfadden’s terrible literacy was further displayed when he said, “I am the only person who know how to run the juvenile detention center.” Once again the proper way to make that statement is, “I am the only person who knows how to run the juvenile detention center”
When talking about another issue, Mcfadden incorrectly said “They probably violated people rights” The correct way to say that was, “They probably violated peoples’ rights”
Lets not forget Sheriff Garry Mcfadden was caught on video calling his employees white cracker and nigger, while also denying a job advancement to the white employee that he called a cracker, which is a stark violation of the Civil Rights Act. That white employee can sue the Mecklenburg County sheriff’s department for job discrimination.
Garry continued on to use bad literacy when addressing his horrible track record of the jail deaths that have occurred under his terrible racist leadership, he said, “So we talk about these 21 death” The proper way to say that is, “So we talk about these 21 deaths.”
Garry Mcfadden went on to showcase his bad handling of English by saying “Yes you can say you can prevent these death” Correct English would of been “Yes you can say you can prevent these deaths.”
In another statement Mcfadden said “I had 6 young men to became business owners” The correct way to mention that was “I had 6 young men to become business owners.”

In another embarrassing display of improper grammar Garry said, “We are far succeeded anyone in the nation” The intelligent correct way to say that is “We have far succeeded anyone in the nation”
Violence in the jail has also sky rocketed under Sheriff Garry Mcfadden. A female jail employee stabbed her supervisor due to a toxic work environment.
Then yet again Garry said “They was trained by NC Highway Patrol” While the correct way to say that was “They were trained by NC Highway Patrol.” There is a difference between plural and singular Garry.
The deficient literacy show continued into the night with Garry saying, “The citizens email this sheriff and said please helped us” Correct English is as follows, “The citizens email this sheriff and say please help us”
In the final embarrassment of the night, and there were many as seen previously, Garry said, “There is no other candidate here has ever sat in the seat of sheriff” The proper way to make that statement includes, “There is no other candidate here that has ever sat in the seat of sheriff.”
The Mecklenburg County Jail under Garry Mcfadden’s leadership has been violent and in disarray, it was even deemed unsafe by state officials.
55-year-old inmate Emerson Healy died at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
A Sergeant at the Mecklenburg County Jail was stabbed several times.
There have been delays in the response time to providing assistance to staff to control the violent incidents at the jail. And in one case, medical attention to an injured staff member was delayed.
A female jail guard was stabbed by an inmate.
3 jail detention officers were assaulted and one guard was stabbed during a fight.
A jail guard was cut in the head by an inmate.
