DOES SHERIFF GARRY MCFADDEN HAVE LITERACY ISSUES? HE MISPRONOUNCED SEVERAL WORDS AND BUTCHERED SENTENCES IN DEBATE

Date:

In a debate he mispronounced the word frustrated multiple times, in a senate hearing he didn’t even know the 3 branches of government, he also used the word content when the right word was context. The sheriff’s office also failed to produce ICE emails to the state senate committee

All of Garry Mcfadden’s speech fallacies and poor grammar are marked in red within this article. His grammar is just as bad as his leadership. Garry Mcfadden’s leadership was called incompetent twice by his opponents during the debate for Mecklenburg County Sheriff on TV, the debate was on January 28, 2026. Mcfadden said “everyone has problem inside the jail”. The correct way to say it was “everyone has problems inside the jail”.

While arguing with his opponent during the debate, Sheriff Garry Mcfadden mispronounced the word frustrated 4 times, Garry said “FLUSTRATED”. Well Garry, we are frustrated with your lack of English pronunciation. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Mcfadden also said incorrectly “When Mr. Nance talk about leadership.” The correct way to say it would be “When Mr. Nance talks about leadership”

State officials say Garry Mcfadden never takes accountability for his failures and bad leadership. For example when the jail was ordered by state officials as unsafe and needed to depopulate, Garry Mcfadden said in return that he was targeted and that state jail inspectors lied.

McFadden even had the audacity to say the media is to blame for shedding a negative light on the sheriff’s department. During the debate Mcfadden said his leadership style is progressive and accountability. Yet his own actions shows his leadership style is racist and grossly mismanaged. Garry needs to hold himself accountable.

Garry Mcfadden thinks that just because he is a black sheriff that he is being sabotaged by his employees, Mcfadden said during a debate. No sir, Garry Mcfadden’s racism and poor reckless arrogant leadership is sabotaging himself.

Even his divine 9 sorority fraternity sister Angelia Riggsbee is suing him due to wrongful termination and toxic work place. Chief Deputy Kevin Canty is a Kappa fraternity member and is also taking Garry Mcfadden to court in attempts to getting Mcfadden removed from office. Yet Mcfadden is the one that cited an Omega fraternity themed poem called Invictous on social media recently, perhaps pleading for help from his fraternity brothers.

When answering a question on if Iryna’s law is a good law, Mcfadden responded saying “Nothing has good come out of this”. The correct say to say that was “Nothing good has come out of this”.

Then Garry said “Iryna law was a mistake” the correct way to say it was “Iryna’s law was a mistake” Iryna’s shows possession Garry, an apostrophe s goes after Iryna. Garry Mcfadden’s speech is a mistake.

Garry Mcfadden then blamed chronic staffing shortages, low morale, heavy overtime, millions of dollars in lost federal revenue, and concerns about jail deaths and jail operations all on Rodney Collins who was his second in command for years. Mcfadden said that the jail problems stopped becoming inherent when Rodney Collins stopped supporting Garry Mcfadden and left the job.

Rodney Collins is running for sheriff too, but when asked a simple question by Ricky Robbins during the debate about ethical boundaries, Rodney had to ask for the question to be repeated; yet Rodney emphasized that a competent leader needs to be sheriff.

In closing remarks, Sheriff Garry Mcfadden said “I’m the only person really know what happens in the sheriff’s office”. The correct way to say that is “I’m the only person who really knows what happens in the sheriff’s office”

STATE HEARING IN RALEIGH, NC AND NOT KNOWING 3 BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT

The State Senate House Oversight Committee demanded the emails the sheriff’s department sent to Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE along with other documents. However, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s department failed to hand over the emails to the senate committee at the time of the hearing which could lead to huge consequences for the sheriff’s department.

Sheriff Garry Mcfadden continued to embarrass himself and speak poorly at the General Assembly State Senate Hearing on February 9, 2026. Mcfadden struggled with saying the word investigation when mentioning the SBI.

Sheriff Garry Mcfadden did not know the 3 branches of government or the branch of government that he operated under. Mcfadden said he operates under the branch of Mecklenburg County. However, Mecklenburg County is not a branch of government.

The state official then asked Mcfadden how many branches of government there are, and Mcfadden replied he did not know. The official had to tell Mcfadden that there are 3 branches of government the judicial, executive, and legislative. Branches of government are usually taught in elementary school.

The state official asked Sheriff Garry Mcfadden again what branch does the sheriff fall under and Mcfadden replied judicial. That is incorrect, judicial is only for judges and the courts. It appears English grammar and social studies are not strong points for Sheriff Garry Mcfadden.

Mcfadden mentioned his words were “taken out of content” when referencing his January 28th debate. The correct way to say that is “taken out of context”.

During the hearing Mcfadden said “Affected by the bill sense as Iryna’s Law”. The correct way to say that is “Affected by the bill such as Iryna’s Law”.

McFadden said “As a Democrat and a black man, it’s been harder for him to build relationships with the GOP-dominated General Assembly than it is for other sheriffs across North Carolina.”

Garry Mcfadden often points out that he is a black sheriff, yet Mcfadden is the one that called his white employee a cracker racial slur and his black employee a nigger on audio recording which he can be sued for for violating the civil rights act. Mcfadden also refused to ever promote that white employee on that same audio recording.

Also during the hearing Mcfadden said “North Carolina first mental health institution”. The correct words were “North Carolina’s first mental health institution”, again Garry Mcfadden lacked basic English by not including an apostrophe s.

A few seconds later Garry Mcfadden said “Lets talked about the Rise program”. The correct way to say that is “Lets talk about the Rise program”

In yet another sentence of mispronounced words and bad grammar, Mcfadden said “It was changed from house ben 10 to 318”. The correct words of conversation were “It was changed from house bill 10 to 318”

Mcfadden wrongly said this, “Cooperation to what someone opinion is”. Yet once again Garry failed to execute basic English and put an apostrophe s after someone. The correct words were “Cooperation to what someone’s opinion is”.

After a 5 minute break Mcfadden came to the microphone and said “There is a pending lawsuits”. The correct word frame was “There is a pending lawsuit” or “There are pending lawsuits”.

A moderator during the state hearing clearly asked Mcfadden what have you done to increase your jail staff, Mcfadden asked for the question to be repeated, just like Rodney Collins asked for a question to be repeated in the debate. Understanding simple questions without them being repeated should be typical for someone that wants to be sheriff.

At the hearing Mcfadden said, “I want to come to your office and anyone else office”. The correct wording is “I want to come to your office and anyone else’s office”.

A state official told Mcfadden during the hearing that Mcfadden never takes the blame for the problems and failures related to the sheriff’s office, the official said that Mcfadden always blames everyone else for the problems in the office.
