An alive roach was found in the pizza yeast. The inspector made the employees throw the yeast away after seeing the roach. Bugs get into food all the time at dirty restaurants.
There was no certified food protection manager on duty during inspection. Black build up was on the inside of the blender used for smoothies.
The inspector also observed black build up in the ice machine and residue build up on the inside of the thermometer cover.
The spinach and cheese was in a cold holding unit at unsafe temperatures above 41F. Bacteria can grow on food above 41F, so the spinach and cheese had to be discarded.
There was a heavy accumulation of rodent droppings under the dry storage area at Charlotte Pizza restaurant. Boxes of food had accumulation of ice buildup due to a leaking condenser in the freezer; the items had to be relocated to avoid contamination.
Debris and residue was on the wire racks in the walk in cooler. Grime and debris were on the floors throughout Charlotte Pizza restaurant. An employee drink was being stored in rack of the ice cream machine.
