Kayla Carmichael was arrested on I-77 after she was swerving and accused of driving intoxicated
Kayla Carmichael, 27, was arrested on September 1, 2026 while she was driving on Interstate 77 in Huntersville, NC. Kayla is a new home sales associate at Eastwood Homes.
On September 1st Kayla was operating a Mazda vehicle on I-77 when cops say she was driving fast and then braked hard.
A real estate agent was murdered in Charlotte
Police say Kayla crossed the lane divider line twice and then swerved, striking the shoulder fog line.
Officers activated lights and sirens to pull Kayla over in a traffic stop. Kayla was the sole occupant of the Mazda.
Kayla had slurred speech and was being non compliant according to cops. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from Kayla’s breath.
Officers asked Kayla to do drunk turn and walk tests, but she denied. Kayla was taken to Atrium Health Hospital and submitted to a blood draw to test her alcohol level. Kayla was arrested charged with DWI and unsafe lane change. The results of the blood draw are pending.
