Successful business woman Stacy Benoist was allegedly over $25,000 behind in child support, the judge threw her in jail
Stacy Benoist, 44, was arrested on July 30, 2025 in Charlotte, NC on charges of failure to pay child support. Stacy was an executive with a real estate company. Stacy’s ex husband Frank Hamel took her to court over allegations of Stacy not paying her child support. Stacy and Frank have a young son together, the boy is around 10-years-old now. In 2025 Frank and his son were in a bad car accident due to a wrong way driver. The young boy’s back was broke from the car accident, the kid also sustained a fractured spine and some internal bleeding. Frank was also injured. The wrong way driver was likely arrested.
During divorce court Stacy was ordered to pay around $800 a month in child support to Frank because he had primary custody. In court, after hearing the evidence the judge said that Stacy was in willful violation of the child support agreement.
The court deemed that Stacy willfully left two jobs where she earned a hefty salary. The court questioned why Stacy has not searched for other employment equivalent to her prior work history. Stacy has three sources of income that she routinely receives large lump sums of money from each month, as reflected in her bank records.
Stacy also routinely spends money on tanning, hot yoga, and getting her hair done. She has made two trips to Miami. Court documents say there was a willfulness for Stacy not to pay the child support.
Stacy was then arrested in court charged with non support of child. The judge ordered that Stacy must pay $2,000 in back child support to get out of jail. Officials say Stacy owes $25,516.82 in total back child support.
