Florida pastor Timothy Chaneyfield, 42, was arrested on July 29, 2026 in Polk County, Fl accused of having sex with a 14 year old boy and giving the boy HIV. Pastor Chaneyfield is HIV positive. Pastor Chaneyfield is a chaplin at Compassionate Care Hospice and he is also the pastor at St. James United American Free Will Baptist Church in Winter Haven.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation began after it received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children. Instagram notified the national center due to the sexual conversations Pastor Timothy was having with the 14-year-old boy.
The teen and Pastor Timothy first met on a gay relationship app, and then their online connection moved onto the Instagram platform. Instagram flagged the conversations and sent them to the mentioned national center. From there, the national center notified the sheriff’s office.
Pastor Timothy is accused of meeting up with the teen boy and having sex with him on multiple occasions. The sheriff’s office began an investigation and then arrested Timothy on July 29th. During the investigation it was discovered that Pastor Timothy had HIV and had given HIV to the 14 year old boy.
Pastor Timothy is now charged with three counts of lewd battery of a minor, three counts of interfering with custody of a minor, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, three counts of traveling to meet a minor, four counts of an HIV infected person having sex without informing their partner, possession of cannabis, and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
