A federal judge temporarily blocked North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s Executive Order for restrictions on religious services during the coronavirus pandemic.
The judge ruled on May 16, 2020 that churches in North Carolina can now have full indoor Sunday service with no restrictions.
This latest ruling comes after a Christian revival group sued Governor Cooper saying his executive order violates their First Amendment Constitutional Right to freedom of religion.
The Governor’s office disagrees with the decision and will not appeal it.
The Governor’s office says:
“We don’t want indoor meetings to become hot spots for the virus and our health experts continue to warn that large groups sitting together inside for long periods of time are much more likely to cause the spread of COVID-19.”
