Natron McDougald, 29, and Donte Clements, 35, were accused of murdering Monica Smith, 26, on Memorial Day weekend 2019 in Charlotte, NC. But new details show that the charges were dismissed by the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

On the evening of May 25, 2019 Monica was killed on Catherine Simmons Avenue Charlotte, NC.
After receiving 911 calls officials located Monica on the ground with a apparent gunshot wound inside of her apartment. Medic transported Monica to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
On June 5, 2019 Natron was arrested charged with Monica’s murder. Several months later in November 2019 Donte was also charged with Monica’s murder.
However, in 2020 the murder charges were dismissed against Natron and Donte by prosecutors without leave and without the suspects making plea agreements.
The without leave stipulation means that prosecutors will not re-try the case. Monica served in the Army at Fort Bragg and had an 8-year-old son.
