On January 11, 2025 a male victim identified as Colton Floren, 24, was shot and killed by an officer with the Pineville Police Department at the Tavern 51 bar in Pineville, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Colton was at Tavern 51 having drinks with his friends. Police received a 911 call about a customer inside the Tavern 51 restaurant that pulled out a handgun and made threats towards others.
Pineville police have a history of shooting at civilians.
Multiple customers grew increasingly scared and concerned, some left the bar at the moment.
Colton was in the parking lot when the officer arrived and gave several verbal commands to Colton.
Colton is accused of advancing towards the officer and making a sudden gesture which led the officer to believe the suspect was an imminent threat.
The cop then shot Colton dead. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the incident.
