Around 5 a.m. Jaselyn threw a pan at Malek as the dispute escalated. In return and likely a possible self defense claim, Malek shot Jaselyn multiple times in the kitchen of the Cookout.

Jaselyn went down immediately and died on scene. Other Cookout workers ran in terror, some employees hid in the bathroom and called police, in fact here is the 911 recording of scared employees calling police.

Cursing and yelling is then heard amongst Cookout employees. Click here to see video of a Cook Out restaurant being robbed at gunpoint.

Malek was arrested a short time later and charged with murder. But just a few months after the homicide, Malek decided to plead guilty to manslaughter, waving his chance for a self defense claim.
