Curtis Massey was just standing talking to his friends when police automatically thought the black men were doing something wrong and chased them. Police shot him while he was running away. The family better sue the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for millions of dollars for wrongful death, 4th Amendment constitutional violations, civil rights violations and racial profiling. The police dont take things seriously until riots and lawsuits take place. Cops do this everyday to black folks. We poke fun at many things on here, but what the cops did today is real life racism
Curtis Massey was shot and killed by an overzealous cop with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department on September 18, 2026 on LaSalle Street Charlotte, NC. The cops were not even called on Curtis, the police approached Curtis for no reason, similar to New York’s controversial ordinance of stop and frisk. Cops in Charlotte have a racial profiling problem along with 4th Amendment illegal search and seizure problem.

Cops were called to a scene near Lasalle St. due to a 911 call. When cops came to the location of the call, they looked all the way across the street and saw Curtis talking with his friends who were black males. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Instead of tending to the original 911 call cops took it upon them self to walk all the way to the other side of the street to confront Curtis and his friends. Cops say Curtis and the group looked suspicious and cops assumed the group was involved in illegal activity, but cops had no proof of illegal activity whatsoever.
Cops are not allowed to approach people just for looking suspicious or for race. No crime was committed and police had no lawful reason to confront the group. Hence a violation of the 4th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Police departments do not take these matters seriously unless a lawsuit is filed or the community starts riots and burns down buildings.

New York citys stop and frisk law was disbanded due to it violating the 4th Amendment of protection from illegal search and seizure. Cops must have probable cause that a crime is being committed, has been committed, or is about to be committed to detain someone.

If the family sues the police department, they can get millions of dollars for wrongful death, civil rights and constitutional violations– unless some right wing federal judge dismisses the case, which republican judges in federal court have a tendency to dismiss civil rights lawsuits and lawsuits involving police shooting black people.
Lawyers told us in an interview that power keeps power in power. Charlotte defense lawyers also admitted that Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department officers do very egregious things all the time that are seen on body camera.
Curtis was a father with young kids.
