A family was killed in a major car accident on September 19, 2026, the family lives in Charlotte, NC. Jason Nye, his wife Christina Nye, and their 7-year-old daughter Cori tragically lost their lives in the collision. Their 10-year-old son Jaceon survived the crash. The State Highway Patrol responded around 4 a.m. on September 19th to a crash involving a Toyota Highlander and a fire truck on I-85. Jason was driving the SUV with his family in the vehicle as passengers.
Jason then ran into the back of the fire truck at a high speed. It is unknown if the fire truck had emergency lights on or if fog visibility was an issue.
Jason, Christina, and Cori died on scene instantly. Jaceon survived the crash and was airlifted to Duke University Hospital, where he is in the ICU intensive care unit receiving care for critical injuries. The fire truck was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
