4 COPS KILLED IN SHOOT-OUT IN EAST CHARLOTTE, DIES AT HOSPITAL, 8 SHOT

4 law enforcement officers were murdered in Charlotte, NC on April 29, 2024 during a quadruple homicide. The dead include 3 U.S. Marshals and one (CMPD) Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Officer. The shooter is dead as well. Officer Joshua Eyer with CMPD was shot and killed. The massive shooting erupted when the U.S. Marshals Task Force came to a home on Galway Drive to serve an arrest warrant on a suspect at 1:30 p.m.

The first suspect allegedly shot at police while in the front yard of the home. Cops then returned fire and killed the suspect.

Within seconds a second suspect inside the home began firing at cops, shooting 8 total. The second suspect shot and killed 3 U.S. Marshals with a high powered rifle. Shots fired officer down was heard on the police radio.

The suspect also shot 5 CMPD cops on the scene. Officer Eyer was shot in the chest. A mass causality hospital van arrived on scene and took all the injured officers and the 2 U.S. Marshals to the hospital.

The first U.S. Marshall that was shot died on the scene. The other 2 U.S. Marshals died at the hospital. 8 people were shot total making this an octuple shooting.

Officer Eyer died at the hospital too. Extensive surgery was made on Officer Eyer’s chest and other body parts, but he did not make it and died. Some of the injured were air-lifted to other hospitals by helicopter.

Officer Eyer served in the North Tryon Division for six years. He leaves behind a wife and child. Click here to see other quadruple homicides.
