The shooting was at the Mint Hill Commons Shopping Center on Matthews-Mint Hill Road, specifically at the Edible Arrangements store. Charlotte Alerts News has covered many instances where cops have been shot.

Tjamel was doing a child custody exchange at the shopping center at 11 a.m. Tjamel and the mother of his kids got in an argument over the kids. They were yelling at each other. Someone called 911.
Cops arrived and Tjamel is accused of pulling out a gun once he saw police. Almost simultaneously two cops were shot in the head, while Tjamel was also shot.
Th cops were bleeding profusely and were knocked unconsciousness from the shooting, while Tjamel was shot and killed on scene.
At this point, it is not clear who shot who. Sometimes cops accidentally shoot themselves. EMS and police backup arrived to the scene. The shot cops were taken to the hospital via ambulance and were listed in critical condition. No cops were killed unfortunately.
The cops have since been released from the hospital.

It appears the suspect Tjamel played high school football in Charlotte at some point and played at a small college elsewhere. Click on the tags below for similar articles.
