Ava Wood, 14, and her father, Christopher Wood, 51, were both found dead with fatal gunshot wounds inside their home in Baldwinsville, NY on January 20, 2023. Christopher killed Ava and then killed himself. Ava was in the 9th grade.
Ava primarily lived with her father Christopher. Her parents were still married but were separated and did not live together.
Around 8:31 a.m., Ava’s mother called 911 to request a status check after her daughter did not show up for school on Friday.
Police went to Christopher’s home and saw cars in the driveway, but no one answered the door. The mother was with police and provided house keys so they could enter the home.
Once cops were inside, they found Ava and Christopher shot to death. It was determined that Christopher shot and killed Ava with a shotgun; and afterwards Christopher committed suicide via a self inflicted gunshot wound with the same shotgun.
