A fatal crash killed paramedic Ashley Moore, her ambulance was rear ended by an allegedly intoxicated driver
Cleveland County Paramedic Ashley Moore was killed on the job while in a ambulance on July 6, 2026 in Shelby, North Carolina. Ashley was a field training officer. Jared Logan, 35, is accused of driving drunk when he crashed his car into the ambulance Ashley was in.

Ashley was responding to a 911 call of a injured person. The ambulance arrived on scene on a busy main street. The patient was loaded into the ambulance on a medic hydraulic powered gurney.

Ashley got in the back of the ambulance attempting to care for the patient and provide medical needs. Jared was operating a Dodge Challenger car when he allegedly crashed into the back of the ambulance that Ashley was in.
The crash severely damaged the ambulance and knocked the patient unconscious. Ashley was thrown through the ambulance window and landed on the asphalt. The ambulance was knocked upside down.
Ashley died on scene. Jared was arrested and unfairly charged with second degree murder. He was also charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving, and failure to wear a seatbelt. As serious as this DWI crime is– this situation does not equate to murder at all, the murder charge is ridiculous and an over step.
When others are killed in DWI crashes, the offender is slapped with a death by vehicle charge or manslaughter charge.
Ashley served with Cleveland County Emergency Medical Services for nine years.
