Richard Kee won big money from lottery in North Carolina, $209 million exactly but he only received $68.6 million after stupid taxes
New information shows Richard Kee won $209 million in the Powerball lottery in Roanoke Rapids, NC. This is the second largest lottery winning in North Carolina history. Richard’s lottery winning was kept a secret for 90 days due to him wining over $50 million dollars. He originally won the lottery on January 21, 2026. But due to lottery laws Richard was allowed to stay anonymous for 90 days.

Richard bought a $2 Powerball ticket on Jan. 21, 2026 at West 10th Mart. Richard was excited and saw that he won. The very next day Richard went to lottery headquarters in Raleigh, NC to claim his money.
The store that sold Richard the winning ticket was given $50,000 as a bonus incentive.
Richard chose the lump sum of $95.3 million, but he only received $68.6 million due to taxes and debt that he had.
Richard had the option of choosing an annuity of $209.3 million paid in 30 payments over 29 years.
