A football coach at Kennedy Middle School identified as Shymere Kavon Leroy Simms, 22, was arrested in Charlotte, NC on August 6, 2025 in a sexual assault crimes against children investigation. Football and crime have made the news a lot in Charlotte.

The 13-year-old male victim disclosed on the morning of August 1, 2025 he received a Snapchat message from Shymere stating,
Im in your hood.
The boy walked the neighborhood and located Shymere at the intersection of Oak Drive and Springhaven Drive.
Shymere was in a gold SUV. Shymere shook the boy’s hand and held on to the victim’s hand. Shymere then is accused of forcing the boy’s hand down the suspect’s pants.
The victim’s hands touched the suspect’s private part, court records say. The victim immediately pulled away and ran home. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
The victim even asked ChatGPT advice on how to disclose to his mother that he was just sexually assaulted. The victim then told his mother what happened.
The mother got in the car and drove around the neighborhood looking for Shymere, but he was gone.
Shymere was later arrested and charged with one count of indecent liberties with a student. Shymere was previously employed at Alexander Graham Middle School but he was fired in June 2025.
