Rafael Lopez, 51, murdered his daughter and wife at the Cabarrus County DSS office on February 19, 2025 in Harrisburg, NC. The wife is identified as Maria Julian-Pichardo, 45, and the daughter is 19-year-old Yamilaine Sosa Julian. Rafael then killed himself.

Rafael and his wife were going through marriage issues. They were all at the DSS office when at 8:30 a.m. Rafael took out a gun and shot Yamilaine and Maria dead in the parking lot.
The shots startled the DSS workers and police were called. Rafael then fled the scene into Kannapolis, NC.
Police initiated a chase. The suspect then pulled over near a shopping center and committed suicide via a self inflicted gunshot wound, Rafael died on scene.
Maria and Rafael were married for years. A domestic violence incident occurred at their Harrisburg home in early February 2025 resulting in Rafael’s arrest on a misdemeanor crime of domestic assault charge.
Maria also took out a temporary 50-B Domestic Protective Order on Rafael.
