Brian Battle, 29, was killed on August 22, 2024 after being hit by an RV motor home on Interstate 485 in Charlotte, NC. Brian was a father and leaves behind a 3-year-old son. Brian had just celebrated his son’s birthday less than a month ago on July 28th.
On August 22nd around 8:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a stolen vehicle call on the shoulder of I-485 at Mt. Holly Rd.
A truck hauling vehicles reportedly had a stolen vehicle on it. Brian called police to report the alleged stolen vehicle. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Around 10:15 a.m., as cops were actively investigating the stolen vehicle claim, an uninvolved RV motor home came crashing into two police cars and Brian.
One officer was pinned in his vehicle like a pretzel, as it was smashed up by the fast moving RV. A second officer was also hurt.
Brian died on impact. Both cops were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the RV was not hurt, and no arrests have been made yet. It is not clear why or how the RV crashed into the victims.
Brian’s mom got pregnant with him at 14 years old. Even with a teen mother, Brian grew up well and was raised with love.
