UKRAINIAN WOMAN MURDERED ON LYNX TRAIN IN CHARLOTTE

Iryna Zarutska, 23, was murdered on a Lynx Blue Line train in Charlotte, NC on August 22, 2025. The fatal altercation was on Camden Road. Iryna and 3 other people were stabbed on the train. Decarlos Brown, 34, is accused of murdering Iryna. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram.

Iryna, Decarlos, and others were on the Lynx train around 10 p.m. An altercation broke out and Decarlos is accused of stabbing Iryna and 3 other people.

Decarlos was stabbed too, likely by witnesses. Iryna died on scene from her stab wounds. The other victims were taken to the hospital to have their stab injuries treated.

Iryna is from Ukraine, she fled the country in 2022 to escape the war in Ukraine against Russia. Iryna had lived in Charlotte with assistance from the U.S. government.

She was also a student at Rowan Cabarrus Community College.
