Xaquaila had several drinks with a stranger, went to his Marriott hotel room, and then shot him
Xaquaila Torrence, 31, is the woman that shot a man at the Marriott hotel in uptown Charlotte, NC on West Trade St. The shooting was on September 22, 2025. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Xaquaila was out drinking with one of her friends at a bar on September 21st. Xaquaila met a man at a local establishment. Xaquaila and the man continued to go to multiple bars together and get alcoholic drinks that same night.
At midnight into the next day Sept. 22nd, Xaquaila went back to the man’s Marriott hotel room in center city Charlotte. Xaquaila says she did not want to stay at the luxury hotel and made an attempt to leave.
At 12:10 a.m. Xaquaila says that the man grew irate and aggressive towards her. The man allegedly charged towards Xaquaila.
Xaquaila then pulled a handgun out of her purse and shot the man twice. Xaquaila communicated with 911 on the phone that she was involved in a shooting incident. A man tried to commit suicide at the same Marriott hotel in 2023, he broke a glass window on the 5th floor and tried to jump.
Multiple guests at the hotel were terrified and called 911 after hearing the gunshots. Blood filled the room and got on the bed sheets and furniture. The man was ushered into an ambulance once EMS arrived to the Marriott hotel.
Xaquaila made a full confession to officers on scene and later to a detective that she did shoot the man. Marriott hotel staff was forced to clean up the bloody mess.
Some guests are planning legal action on Marriott hotel for not providing a safe hotel stay.
