On October 20, 2023 the American Deli scored an 86 B on a food health inspection. The restaurant is located at 5700 University Pointe Blvd Charlotte, NC. The meat slicer was dirty with old food debris. An American Deli employee was washing dishes without any sanitizer. The facility did not have any sanitizer to use.
A roach was seen crawling on a box in the dry storage area. A dead roach was on the wall. The manager stated that they have pest control service once every 6 months.

The inspector stated that pest control needs to come out more often to control for pests at American Deli.
Tomatoes, lettuce, ham, sliced cheese, shredded cheese, and tzatziki sauce in the prep top cooler was at unsafe temperatures above 41F.
Also the gyro and roast beef were cold holding above 41F. Law requires items to be chilled at or below 41F.
Food was stored on the floor in the walk in cooler and freezer. Also single service trays were stored on the floor in the dry storage area.
The ice machine interior door had mold/mildew on it. Another American Deli in Charlotte had black mold on the ice machine.
The inspector noted that the floors were in need of cleaning under and around equipment. The stove cook hoods were dirty and needed to be cleaned.
