MAN KILLED IN DWI CRASH

Tamika Smyre, 45, was arrested on November 20, 2024 charged with killing James Hines, 39, in a DWI crash on Old Pineville Rd. Charlotte, NC.

The deadly crash was on November 20, 2024, shortly after 8:00 p.m., James was walking on Old Pineville Rd. when he was hit by a Lexus RX300 vehicle. Tamika was driving the Lexus. 

Tamika was uninjured, but medics arrived on scene and pronounced James deceased due to the injuries he sustained. 

James was in the lanes of travel and was wearing dark colored clothing. DWI Task Force officers screened Tamika and found her to be impaired, cops say.  

Tamika was arrested and charged with DWI, driving while license revoked, and possession of marijuana.
