Gregorio Aguirre-Romero, 45, pled guilty to second-degree murder on July 18, 2024 in Charlotte, NC. Gregorio killed Roberto Martinez, 54, on West Sugar Creek Rd. Charlotte, NC.
On November 8, 2023 Gregorio was driving a white Ford Econoline van.
Police real time crime center video showed Gregorio driving down Sugar Creek Road into oncoming traffic to get around other vehicles.
Gregorio did this at least twice before the wreck happened. While passing Reagan Drive heading toward I-85, Gregorio side swiped a Toyota Corolla traveling in the opposite direction of travel.
Roberto was found trapped in the driver’s seat of a red Chevy Express van. Roberto was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Charlotte Fire Department and transported to the hospital where he died.
Gregorio was arrested and charged with reckless driving and hit and run. Gregorio’s charges were later upgraded to murder.
At his 2024 trial Gregorio plead guilty to murder and was sentenced to 125-162 months in prison.
