SUSPECT SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON FOR MURDERING MAN

Jamal Dean, 25, pled guilty on July 19, 2024 to second degree murder and felony breaking or entering after Britton Owens, 31, was shot and killed at apartments in Charlotte, NC.

Britton was murdered on June 5, 2023 at apartments on Prestigious Lane.

Britton was shot multiple times around 8 p.m. at apartments. Officers responded to a shots fired call and located a black male with gunshot wounds.

Medics pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. Britton’s neck tattoos helped identify him. Jamal was arrested on June 7, 2023 and charged with Britton’s murder.

In July 2024 Jamal plead guilty to murder and a judge sentenced him to a consolidated sentence of 292-363 months in prison, which is over 25 years. 

Jamal also admitted to violating the terms of his probation for a previous conviction. Britton leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram now.
