36-year-old Jamil Rout was murdered on February 13, 2022, on Interstate 485 in Charlotte, NC near Mount Holly Road. Jamil was killed around 7:00 p.m., while the Super Bowl was being played.
Jamil was on Marita Drive in Charlotte when he was physically assaulted or shot. Jamil was able to drive to I-485 nearby, but he veered off the road and crashed, his Mercedes Benz vehicle was on fire. Jamil was in the car burning, a 911 call was made and responders arrived at the scene.
Jamil was still pronounced dead at the scene. This is a murder case. The investigation is ongoing to determine how exactly Jamil was murdered.
