Omar Jordan, 29, was shot by two Mount Holly police officers on February 11, 2022 in Mount Holly, NC. Two cops were allegedly hit by Omar’s vehicle during a traffic stop.
The shooting was at 3:30 p.m. Officers were called about a suspicious vehicle parked at apartments on Maple Circle. Omar was the driver. Cops approached the vehicle and spoke with Omar. But during the conversation, cops say Omar began reversing his vehicle, the vehicle allegedly hit 2 cops.
Officer J. Griffin and Officer L. Ruocco fired their weapons and struck Omar. Omar was then taken to the hospital.
The Gaston County District Attorney was on the scene and will be conducting an independent review of the incident.
Omar was released from the hospital on February 14, 2022 and he was arrested. Omar is charged with assault with a deadly weapon/inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and a count of injury to personal property.
Omar is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail. Jmar Davis was shot in the face by Mount Holly Police in 2013.
A black man was shot by police at Walmart in 2021.
