Joshua Overton, 32, died during a fight with security guards at Strategic Security. The altercation was at the transit center on East Trade Street Charlotte, NC on December 8, 2024.
Overton was a homeless man that often got help from non profits that gave him clothes, food, and temporary shelter. Overton had mental health problems. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
On the day of his death, Overton dressed in suit and tie tried entering a business but the security guards blocked him from going inside. Some guards were seen standing on the man while he was on the ground.
Another female guard was seen kicking the victim while he was on the ground. Overton was disoriented and confused, reportedly being disorderly.
Another guard for Strategic Security is heard saying to the man, “Stay down nigger.” The federal civil rights act prohibits employees of companies from using racial slurs on the job.
Cops were called to the scene along with paramedics and Overton was found dead. Officials made the decision not to press charges on the security guards.
